Chocolate Bytes: For the Love of Chocolate

November Chocolate Bytes Contest!

by Heather on November 7th, 2007

I’m getting started on a contest early this month because it’s a busy time of year, so I thought I’d extend it for the majority of the month instead of just the end of it!

Out of the two previous contests I was surprised to find that folks seemed to prefer the theobromine molecule t-shirt over the actual chocolate! So, that’s what I’m offering up again!

theobromine.jpg

What you need to do:

~ Comment here with a chocolate or chocolate product you’re thankful for! That’s it!

As always, there are two ways to enter:

Get two submissions to win: Leave a comment here telling us a chocolate or chocolate product that you’re thankful for. Then link to this contest from your own site or weblog and include the URL to the entry with your submission and you now have two chances to win!

OR

Get one submission to win: Pick one or the other above - leave a comment telling us what you’re thankful for or just link to the contest from your own weblog (I need to be able to see it though, so make sure it’s not a locked or friends-only entry.)

Make sure you leave a valid email address with your comment (will not be displayed) so I can contact you in a timely manner if you win.

The contest will run until November 30 at 11:59pm Pacific. A name will then be drawn from the eligible submissions on December 1 using the super technical method of pieces of paper in a hat, and the winner will be notified by email and announced here on the site. The winner will then need to send me their mailing address to have the t-shirt sent to, so if you’re not comfortable with that then please don’t enter (though it will never be used for anything else).

This is open to residents of the continental U.S. and Canada only.

If you’re in the US: You can choose between the ThinkGeek style (women’s style, pink on brown) or the Moleculewear styles (regular or girlie style, green on black).

If you’re in Canada: Your shirt will be coming from Moleculewear because they have excellent shipping rates. You can pick the regular or the girlie style, and the colors are green on black.

shirt_chocolate.jpg

Disclaimers
- If you win you’ll need to provide my with the t-shirt size you’d like. You don’t get a choice on which molecule you’d like, though - this is a chocolate site, you’re stuck with chocolate!

- If you pick the wrong size and wish to exchange it the responsibility is yours: I will not pay for shipping back to the store and then back again to you.

- You are responsible for any applicable taxes.

- I am not responsible for printing mess-ups, shipment re-scheduling, or laundry mishaps.

Good luck!!

I am VERY thankful for plain M&M’s. I can snack on them while working at the computer. I can snack on them while driving the car. I can snack on them while taking a bath. AND they are great bribery for potty training (for my kids, not me). M&M’s are truly a versatile candy. ;)

Mmmmm, what chocolate am I NOT thankful for???? They’re all so yummy!

Seriously though, I really enjoy the Ghirardelli chocolate, especially the ones with caramel in the middle. I think they’re way better than Godivas! Dove chocolates are pretty good too!

I know many people who are against fat-free products. I am one of them in most cases, mainly because they usually taste odd, but I am so thankful for Turkey Hill’s Chocolate Cherry Cordial frozen yogurt. This is one product that you seriously would not know is fat-free. I can eat it and not feel guilty! I LOVE YOU, TURKEY HILL!

Just one? OK, I live in Germany, so I have to say Milka bars. They are what is known as “table chocolate”. It doesn’t have the bitter, barfy aftertaste of, say, a Hershey bar.

It’s milk chocolate with or without things mixed in. There are so many varieties, I know I haven’t tried them all. They even release seasonal flavors. At christmas, there’s one with gingerbread, in the spring there is one with yogurt and berries.

I am thankful for peanut butter M&Ms and Ritter Sport Hazelnut bars and dark chocolate Raisinets (which are kinda healthy because raisins are a good source of iron and we all know how healthy dark chocolate is for you) and… well, I could go on, but that should do for now. I am really just thankful for all kinds of chocolate and to live in a society where my consumption of it is only limited by the cash in my wallet.

Seriously, just one? I go in waves. At Halloween its Milky Way. At Christmas, chocolate covered Oreos and pretzels, homemade, of course (especially white). At Valentines, Fondue. At Easter, Cadbury eggs.

And anytime? Reeses Chocolate Ice Cream with Chocolate fudge and peanut butter topping.

We lived overseas for two years. I was so afraid they wouldn’t have good chocolate in the country we were going to. I need not have worried. They sold a German brand called Milka. O, wow! What fine chocolate! I wish I could get it here! (Maybe not, I’d be as big as the Milka cow on the wrapper!LOL!) I’ve posted your contest on my blog. That means I get entered twice! Yippee!

Honestly, I’m thankful the Aztecs decided to pound the crap out of those xocolatl pods in the first place; but whenever I see one of those Ritter Rum Knusperstuck bags (usually at specialty stores, but mostly online) I want to cry with joy. Never have rum, raisins, crispy thingies and chocolate made something so beautiful together.

I couldn’t possibly pick just one. I have this nuerotic need to have chocolate every single day. My nana used to have bags of peanut m&ms around and then it was dove chocolates, my mother, she used to be a see’s candy fan, but graduated to Godiva when I was out of the house and she could afford it and I try not to keep it in the house, but have been known to go to the extent of having chocolate milk, hot chocolate or eating chocolate chips right out of the bag. I guess you could say that our chocolate addiction runs in the family.

For Valentine’s day my Father buys a box of Chocolate-covered Strawberries from this local candy store called Malley’s. We only get them once a year, so it’s a delicious treat we all anticipate. And it’s not *so* sinful, since there’s a strawberry with the treat! But the chocolate is what makes it sooooo special. I am so thankful for this splendid little delight.
