Chocolate Orange vs Key Lime Chocolate Orange

I know Terry’s Chocolate Oranges are available year-round now, but when I first discovered them several years ago they were a seasonal item available only around the holidays. I guess for that reason it feels wrong to me to have them any other time of year, so I wait until November to get any. They seem to taste better, I don’t know!
So while we were at the store yesterday I saw a small display and realized that they also make them in dark chocolate now (I don’t know how I missed it before). Now, another weird thing about me is that I’m not a fan of orange flavoring. I love oranges the fruit, I love orange juice, but things flavored with it gross me out. Except chocolate oranges. So I was a little skeptical about the dark chocolate version since I’d only ever had the milk, but I needn’t have worried because of course they were great!
However, on the other side of the display I discovered something else:

A key lime flavored chocolate orange! I didn’t realize until I got home that it was not a Terry’s orange but a “Florida Tropic” brand, which I actually appreciated because it felt a bit like they were selling out otherwise. Stick with what works!
The key lime wasn’t bad. The lime taste was very very light but it did leave a bit of an aftertaste. It wasn’t unpleasant, just a little disconcerting after having just eaten chocolate.

The individual wedges of the Florida Tropic brand differ a bit from the standard Terry’s too; They’re indented quite a bit.

Overall, the key lime wasn’t bad but I’ll stick with the Terry’s. I even shared it with the kids which I never do with my chocolate oranges - they live a life of solitude and sacrifice in the back of my snack cupboard, out of reach of little hands.
The Florida Tropic was also available in raspberry flavor, and I picked both up on sale at the grocery store on sale 2 for $5.

I’m the same way with Orange Flavoring, or Orange Juice in my cocktails(although I can handle Mimosas)
They also have a mint chocolate orange, that I’ve seen once or twice, and managed to taste once and it was pretty good. Rarely ever see it though.

I just don’t dig orange in most things…hardly ever drink orange juice either, I much prefer cranberry ;-)
But anyway, I just wanted to put in my 2 cents about the “seasonal” comment you made…..WTF is up with being able to get spiced wafers (http://www.pageneralstore.com/prodinfo.asp?number=SWE-004) all year? That used to be the coolest thing in the world….wandering around the grocery store with my parents around the end of September, turn the corner to find a frickin’ huge spiced wafer display - it was great!! Now they are there all year….it just sort of detracts from the novelty, ya know?
I now return you to your regular program, already in progress :-)

Oh yummmmmm…. Dark chocolate Terry’s oranges are my favorites. I have to admit - I only eat them at Christmas - but I love orange in my hot chocolate or coffee year round

Please Help: I can not find Florida Tropic Key Lime Milk Chocolate Balls anywhere. (Like the Terry’s Orange one and the Florida Tropic one you have pictured) I live in the Philadelphia western suburbs and have checked every CVS pharmacy and many other stores. If you know where I can get these, please let me know. I’ve checked the internet too, and your site is the only one with any information about them.
Thanks for helping me.
Best regards,

Hi Bill! I found mine at Smith’s/Kroger grocery store, but I’m not sure you have those in PA?
