An Explosion of Chocolate Lava

I phoned both of my sisters last night to wish them a happy birthday. And as twins often do, they both told me about their afternoon chocolate experience. Not that twins always talk about chocolate, although that’s usually the case with my sisters, but they do often have the same topic on their minds.
Seems they’d both tried a molten chocolate lava cake to celebrate their birthday, and they gushed about how gooey and decadent it was. So much so, in fact, that guess what we’re having here this weekend? This is the recipe I’ve found to try.
Ingredients:
12 ounces bittersweet chocolate
4 ounces semisweet chocolate
1-1/4 cup butter
1 cup flour
3 cups icing sugar
8 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
4 Tbsp Grand Marnier or other orange liqueur
Preheat oven to 425F. Grease 12 ramekins or custard cups. In a medium double boiler, melt the chocolate. Add the butter and stir until melted. Remove from heat and add the flour and icing sugar. Gently beat in the eggs until smooth. Add vanilla and orange liqueur. Pour evenly into the ramekins. Bake for 14 minutes. Run a knife around the outside of the ramekin, then invert onto a dessert plate and dust with icing sugar. The outside of the cakes will be firm but the center will be runny.
