Some Chocolate Linky Love

A few chocolatey links from around the Food & Dining Channel:

- Jennifer from Offbeat Homes gets high praise from me for finding this incredible chocolate castle from Chocolate Showpiece. It’s not a real castle, of course, but I’m certainly not complaining!
Baking Delights has Allergy-Free Cranberry Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies and Oh, Henry! Bars. Check out the […]

Bubble Chocolate

The first time I tried an Aero (bar?), the result of one of my much missed (it’s still too hot) Canadian goodie swaps, I wasn’t quite sure what to think. Normally I like my chocolate nice and solid, and here was a candy bar that was half air. I did end up really liking […]

The Lure and Lore of Chocolate

I really like fieldmuseum.org’s section on chocolate, and especially the Lure and Lore of Chocolate page:
Aztec (1250-1521)
“In their sacred life, the Aztecs occasionally mixed achiote (ah chee OH tay), a red powder made from the seed of the annatto tree, in their chocolate drinks. Some scholars believe this practice may have had a symbolic connection […]

Hershey’s Moves to Mexico, part 2

The general Hershey’s Move to Mexico report has made it to Snopes.com. They’re debunking the news that all US plants are moving to Mexico, when in reality it’s just over 10% of their workforce (so far). Snopes tags this as just “partly true,” but I can’t help but think it’s going to be tagged “true” […]

Weekend Hibernation

Yes, I’m a Harry Potter fan. Not hardcore or anything (we don’t dress up and wait for hours at the bookstore — instead, the husband will be heading to the closest grocery store at five to midnight and be home within ten minutes!), but I’m going to hibernate (mostly offline) for the weekend so […]

Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies

I love making these when the kids want a quick snack and I feel like baking but not doing a lot of measuring and waiting (ie work):

1 (18.5 oz) package chocolate cake mix
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional)
……….
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a […]

Chocolate Hunting

Another round of chocolate hunting around the Home & Dining channel! There aren’t a huge amount of chocolate links, but even a little bit of chocolate is better than none!
- Check out Baking Delights‘ Caramel Crunch Fudge Cake. I get a sugar high just looking at the recipe!
- Cooking Gadgets has a nifty Scoop and […]
